Our Winter Park Wedding Company family has grown over the last year and half and we are now pleased to announce the addition of Capen House, Winter Park with lakeside ceremonies at the historic Capen House and the Albin Polasek Museum & Sculpture Garden. We are excited to add this idyllic lakeside spot for destination and intimate wedding ceremonies held out on a romantic dock or directly on the patio of the newly restored Capen House. We do have an indoor back up (just in case!) on the verandah.
After the ceremony, there are endless backdrops for group and family pictures, a scenic picnic area for cake and champagne, and more options for romantic shots in the beautifully maintained gardens of the Polasek Museum. After the ceremony you could even walk to the fabulous chic Alfond Inn hotel for lunch or dinner at Hamiltons Kitchen, or take a short ride and dine in one of the many international cuisine restaurants on Park Ave.
The house was originally built in 1885 by James Seymour Capen and built in the Folk Victorian Style. It is said to be the third oldest home in Winter Park. In 1923 another prominent Winter Park resident, Howard Showalter remodeled it to its current Tudor Revival Style. Back in December of 2013 it was saved by community groups who were able to relocate the building to its new home at the Polasek museum. The home was cut into two and taken by barge across 1000 meters of Lake Oceola before being restored to its former glory!
