Sweet Hearts to keep the party going
New culinary trends are changing the face of restaurants, bakeries, grocery offerings and even weddings. Couples are starting to want more authentic and unique fare to offer their guests. Most are straying from the traditional sit down dinner and getting creative with foodie inspired cuisine. This culinary expansion doesn’t just stop at the dinner table, it carries over to the dessert table as well.
Traditional wedding cakes are being replaced with pies, macaron cakes, crepe cakes, dessert bars, and even croquembouche towers. These unique dessert ideas give the wedding a more personalized and stylish feel that is appealing to more modern day couples. According to Wedding Wire one of the biggest wedding dessert trends for 2018 is bite sized desserts that can be passed while dancing. “Passing bite-sized desserts while your guests are on the dance floor keeps the party moving and is a fun and welcome surprise!”
With all the bite sized choices out there, it may be hard to narrow down which one would work best for your wedding. One such choice might be the timeless and classic pâte à choux. Pâte à choux originates in France and is a light pastry dough that is filled with cream or custard. They are perfectly bite sized and come in a variety of flavors. While they are wildly popular in France, they are quickly becoming a favorite here in the states.
Access to Pâte à choux might seem daunting, however, thanks to a new store opening, Winter Park has become home to the beloved dessert. Choulala Fine Pastries opened its doors about two months ago and offers delectable French desserts, including Pâte à choux. Choulala is located on State Road 436 between Howell Branch Road and Aloma Avenue. A second Choulala located is expected to open on Park Avenue within the next couple of weeks.
Recently we visited the 436 location and sat down with Hervé Rouge of Choulala Fine Pastries. It is apparent that they put an emphasis on quality and authenticity. We learned that all of the desserts are handmade from scratch, by master pastry chefs, using ingredients that are imported from France. The pâte à choux flavors range from common flavors like vanilla and chocolate, to fruit flavors like mango and passion fruit. Some of their more international flavors include Nutella, tiramisu and letchee.
Pâte à choux from Choulala could easily be used as part of your wedding dessert offerings. Or add a twist and have Choulala exquisitely box them up and give them to guests as wedding favors. And because the pâte à choux come in a variety of beautiful colors, they could be customized to complement your wedding colors.
In addition to pâte à choux, Choulala also offers other French pastries including chocolate mousse, tropezienne brioche and praline crunchy éclair. They are beautifully simple and decadent. And while these desserts are not bite sized, they could certainly add a modern and unique flair to your wedding dessert table.
For more information on Choulala, stop by their 436 location or visit them on the web. They are open six days a week and offer daily taste testing of their amazing products. They can provide you with a tailor made dessert solution for your wedding that your guests are sure to remember!
